Rockland police investigating two school burglaries within a week
ROCKLAND — Rockland Police have released still images of a burglary suspect taken from surveillance cameras during a break-in April 6 at Oceanside High School East.
The break-in at Oceanside is the second of two burglaries within a week at a Rockland school.
Police have confirmed that the suspect gained entry into the school sometime during the night April 5 and locked interior doors of the building were damaged during attempts to gain entry into some of the rooms, according to Rockland Police Sgt. Don Finnegan.
A fire extinguisher was reported stolen and police do not know if anything else was taken at this time, but they have confirmed that the locked area where the students’ medications are stored was not disturbed.
The second school break-in March 31 at South Elementary School also occurred during the night. Locked interior doors were damaged when they were forced open and students’ medications were taken, said Finnegan.
As of April 7, both burglaries remain under investigation and at this time police do not have any updates about the cases.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect should contact Rockland Police at 594-0316.
