Restorative Justice Project of the Midcoast seeks prospective mentors for youth and adults
The Restorative Justice Project of the Midcoast seeks stable, compassionate, and resourceful mentors for youth who are taking responsibility for causing harm by participating in the organization’s Community Resolution Program and for men due to emerge from the Maine Coastal Regional Reentry Center (and rejoin the community.
If interested, register for the next RJP training series, held at St Margaret's Episcopal Church, at 95 Court St in Belfast. The first session, which doubles as an informational session, will be held Thursday, June 9, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The training will continue June 16, 23, and 30, in the evening.
The sessions include information about the philosophy of restorative justice and its practice. Participants will also talk with an active mentor and mentee as part of the training, as well as tour the MCRRC in Belfast.
Mentors include teachers, mental health professionals, lobstermen, carpenters, lawyers, pastors, and community activists.
