Polls open in Midcoast to voters lined up outside doors
Tue, 11/08/2016 - 8:30am
Nov. 8, 2016 dawned with clear skies in Midcoast Maine, and citizens began streaming to the polls well before 8 a.m. to beat the rush. But the rush had already begun.
With early-voting over the previous month breaking records, the official voting day begins with a similar enthusiastic push by voters to cast their ballots.
Polls will remain open in each municipality until 8 p.m., and then the day’s counting begins.
Several municipalities, including Camden, Rockland and Rockport, spent Saturday and Monday counting a record number of absentee ballots. Rockport alone had approximately 1,000 ballots arrive prior to Nov. 8.
