Police investigating arson at Rockland waterfront
ROCKLAND — Rockland Police are investigating a fire that was reported April 1 around 4:40 a.m. near the Rockland Fish Pier and the Landings Restaurant parking lot. A float that was being stored on land was found smoldering with heavy damage from the fire, according to a press release from Sgt. Don Finnegan.
Rockland Interim Fire Chief Adam Miceli said that firefighters responded to the pier and quickly extinguished what remained of the fire.
“There was definitely a human element to the fire so the case has been turned over to Rockland Police,” said Miceli.
Finnegan confirmed that Detective Joel Neal is leading the investigation.
