NWS: 3 to 6 inches of new snow headed to Midcoast tonight
GRAY — A winter weather advisory went into effect at 4 p.m. Saturday, for coastal and Down East Maine, and continues through 4 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8.
There is an 80 percent chance of snow still this afternoon, and then a 100 percent chance of snow tonight. It will be blustery, then turn to a chance of snow tomorrow morning.
Saturday night, snow accumulations are expected to be 3 to 5 inches. mainly before midnight. The low will be around 11 degrees Fahrenheit, with wind chill values as low as minus 6.
There will be a north wind of 20 to 25 mph.
Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 19 F. It will be blustery again, with a northwest wind of 15 to 20 mph, and wind chill values as low as minus 6.
The cold continues Sunday night, with partly cloudy skies, a low around 6, northwest wind of 10 to 15 mph and wind hill values as low as minus 8.
Monday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 22 and a west wind around 5 mph.
If you heading out to snowmobile, snowshoe or enjoy some outdoor recreation at the Camden Snow Bowl Sunday, be sure and dress appropriately and keep those cheeks and noses covered. Be careful around lakes and ponds, and especially near tributaries that feed them.
