Knox County EMA and state meteorologist team up for free weather workshop
ROCKLAND - Calling all weather buffs! National Weather Service Forecast Office meteorologist Mike Cempa will be on hand in Rockland Tuesday, Jan. 10, to lead a Weather Spotter Training Course.
Dubbed Skywarn, the training covers:
• Basics of thunderstorm development
• Fundamentals of storm structure
• Identifying potential severe weather features
• Information to report
• How to report information
• Basic severe weather safety.
The course is free, and open to all ages, abilities and levels of experience. The course is also a useful refresher for current Weather Spotters. Course participants may register as "Weather Spotters" and be assigned an observer station number at this training.
This course is being presented at no cost, but space is limited and pre-registration is suggested to reserve a seat.
The course will be held at Knox County EMA, 301 Park St., from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
