Judy Block, obituary
CAMDEN — Judy Kove Block (née Freedman), of Camden, Maine, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at the age of 76. She was born Sept. 10, 1940, in Los Angeles, Calif. She attended Hollywood High School and Santa Monica City College before moving to New York at age 20.
She worked in the fashion industry for over 30 years. Judy then decided to follow a dream and opened The Sampler in Summit, N.J., a very special antique and gift shop she ran for 15 years. Judy spent her retirement doing volunteer work for many charitable organizations, and always gave generously to others.
She loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Judy collected pansies and heart rocks, and faithfully sent cards to her friends and family for special occasions, never missing a birthday or an anniversary. She will be greatly missed.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Victoria and son-in-law, Andrew, of Montville, Maine; and her son, Jeremy and daughter-in-law, Nisa, of Venice, Calif.; as well as her grandchildren, Emmet, Barlow, Izzy and Harper. She is also survived by her nieces, Michelle, Pam and Lauren; and her great-nieces, Lili, Talia and Mira.
A ceremony celebrating her life will be held Sunday, June 18, at 10 a.m. at Merryspring Gardens in Camden.
Memorial donations may be made in Judy's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and The Penobscot Marine Museum.
