Belfast Resolve holds rally today, Dec. 17
Belfast Resolve, a group in Belfast, is holding a rally/march today, from 2 to 3 p.m. The goal is to “peacefully march, rally and speak up/out regarding values and concerns as citizens of the community, in response to the outcome of our recent election, and some of the behavior, actions and proposed policies surrounding it,” according to Belfast Resolve.
“We are BelFem, a group working on a new initiative for our community: a resolution that aims to affirm Belfast, Maine’s commitment to inclusivity, caring, respect, dignity and security for residents and visitors to this city,” the group said. “As proud residents of Belfast, we are inspired by other US cities adoption of similar resolutions, and would like to make a declaration of our own values and commitments to care for one another. A small city and county seat, Belfast takes pride in our historic downtown, our creative and cultural scene, the strength of our local businesses, our working waterfront and our connectedness to the agricultural life of Waldo County and the larger ecosystem of Penobscot Bay. We want to make it known that Belfast believes in standing up for ALL of its residents to pursue a happy life with safety, security and dignity.”
