American Legion recognizes Camden business for patriotism

CAMDEN — Another local business was honored by the Camden American Legion Post No. 30 and was a recipient of a Certificate of Recognition for proper American flag display.
Jamie Weymouth, owner of Camden Clothesline, was recognized May 27 for showing his patriotism by flying the flag in front of his business on Washington Street. Weymouth said that he was not just displaying the flag for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday, but has been flying the flag every day since he opened his business in June 2013.
Last month, the Legion initiated a new community based program that recognizes a different business each month within the community for properly displaying the American Flag. “There are numerous government buildings that are flying the American flag and we hope we can encourage more local businesses to participate by recognizing them with this program,” said Jeff Sukeforth, post adjutant and legionnaire.
Weymouth said that he did not serve in the military, but knows many people who did. “It is nice to appreciate those who have served and show that I am proud of this country,” said Weymouth.
As another gesture to support patriotism, Camden Clothesline has offered to dry clean any American flag, free of charge, year-round for anyone who stops by the laundromat.
The American Legion is the world’s largest Veteran’s organization with a support group of more than 2.5 members. “Still Serving America” is the motto of the American Legion with veterans continuing their service to America by serving their communities. The American Legion is the nation’s largest and most respected organizations of wartime veterans, according to a press release from Sukeforth.
