Alma Jackson, obituary
MONTVILLE
MONTVILLE — Alma F. Jackson, 81, of Montville, passed away on March 29, 2016, in Belfast. She was born in Lynn, Mass., on Dec. 12, 1934, to Morris and Florence (Riggs) Chute.
Alma graduated in 1952 as valedictorian from Walker High School in Liberty. She married Roger Jackson in 1953 in a double wedding ceremony in Knox with Ernest and Ernestine Hooper. She taught Sunday School, was involved with Girl Scouts and enjoyed raising their four children.
Alma was a hard worker and worked at local area businesses for many years. After her children were grown, she and her husband enjoyed camping, attending country music concerts and loved traveling, including two cross-country trips and visiting Branson, Miss., many times with their life-long friends, Brub and Hazel Lucas. She and Roger were members of the Good Sam RV Club. She also enjoyed snowmobiling, gardening and bird watching. Alma took her sons hunting as children and was a good fisherman, especially for brook trout.
Alma is predeceased by both parents; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Virginia. She is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, Roger Jackson of Montville; her children, Judith Fuller and her husband, Norman, and Laura Jackson, all of Liberty, Brian Jackson and his wife, Tootie, of Montville, and Scott Jackson and his wife, Heidi, of Searsmont; her sister, Muriel Hart and her husband, Frank, of Belfast; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins as well as their dog, Rusty, and special caregivers, Sandra and Tootie.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, April 2 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave. in Belfast, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Morrill Village Cemetery in the spring.
