A ship with a swarthy crew in red sailed into Camden Harbor Sept. 1, the last day of the Camden Windjammer Festival, with hopes of launching an attack on the town. Little did the pirates of the sailing vessel Must Roos know, the Pirates of the Dark Rose caught wind of the impending invasion and mustered townfolk to form the Hellion Brigade. Sure as Pete, all hell broke loose when the Must Roos crew began firing cannons and muskets ashore, but the Hellion Brigade was well-armed for defense. Returning musket and cannon fire from the shore at Harbor Park, the Pirates of the Dark Rose also launched a pair of yawl boats to meet the Must Roos at the head of Camden Harbor. Fighting their way aboard the ship, sword fights ensued on deck and eventually, the locals won the fight, sending at least two crew from the Must Roos into the briny waters of the harbor and taking the remaining crew ashore to meet their fate.
