BELFAST — A Searsport woman was charged with a number of crimes Oct. 2, following the alleged burglary of several vehicles parked in the YMCA parking lot.

Rachel-Olivia White, 24, was cited for two counts of burglary of a motor vehicle and five counts of theft by unauthorized taking after allegedly stealing money from several locked vehicles parked at the Lincolnville Avenue facility.

The first thefts were reported late last week, when two YMCA visitors reported cash missing from their vehicles to staff members, who then alerted Belfast Police, according to Sergeant Daniel Fitzpatrick.

YMCA staff also contacted their security company to request video surveillance footage from the relevant times.

The same female, later identified as White, was seen on video during the time frame the separate thefts were reported, according to Belfast police.

Belfast Police were contacted by YMCA staff again Oct. 2 to report that two women had come forward to report $800 missing from the car where both were storing their belongings. The vehicle was also reportedly locked when left in the lot.

Staff from the security agency was still at the facility at the time of the second incident, due to the earlier footage request. After reviewing the footage from the most recent thefts, White was again found to be in the area of the burglarized vehicle, police said.

White, who was asked at the facility by Officer Michael Boucher, reportedly admitted the thefts, and was in possession of the stolen money. The funds were distributed back to the rightful owners.

White is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 8.
