The Camden Hills Regional High School varsity ice hockey team is off to a hot start, one that sees them sitting at 3-0 as they prepare to travel to Waterville Tuesday, Dec. 16 in hopes of keeping its win streak alive.

Following are reported results from the Windjammers’ last two contests.

Dec. 12 - Camden Hills 13, Houlton 0

When the Windjammers entered the John A. Millar Civic Center in Houlton, the squad was ready to get the victory, and they left no doubt they were the victors.

Scoring in the second period were Matteo (three times; assisted by Kieran Lydon on the first, James Orne on the second and another player on the third), Nick Tassoni (Simon Lydon and Czuchra assists), Cam Christie (Gunnar Hilt assist) and Annis (Cameron assist).

In the third period, the Windjammers netted in two more goals to seal the victory, one by Perrin Ganter (Prescott assist) and the other by Prescott (Matteo and another player assisted).

Windjammers head coach Karl Enroth said, “We came out skating hard and getting pucks to the net and [it was] just one of those games where it seemed like everything we did worked out.”

The Windjammers shot on the net 44 times, while Houlton shot on the net only 12 times.

Jet Magri worked the goalie net for the Windjammers and had 12 saves, while John Thatcher (first period; 12 saves), Noah Blake (second period; 10 saves) and Drew Marino (third period; nine saves) all worked the goalie net for Houlton.

Both teams had four total minutes of penalties and both were 0-for-2 on power play opportunities.

Dec. 13 - Camden Hills 3, Presque Isle 0

On Saturday, Dec. 13, the Windjammers made the journey to The Forum in Presque Isle and walked away with a 3-0 victory to keep its winning streak alive, and start the season off 3-0.

No goals were let up in the first period, but in the second, Jonah Cameron scored off a Simon Lydon assist, while Annis (Simon Lydon assist) and Cameron (Czuchra assist) both scored in the third period.

Enroth said of the game: “[It was a] [h]ard fought game and just the opposite from the night before against Houlton as we really had to earn this win. Presque Isle showed a lot of hustle and determination throughout the game and their goalie Jillian Flynn was tough to beat tonight. We worked hard to get some quality chances throughout the game but Flynn was seeing the puck well and making the saves. Our defensive-men, led by Czuhra, Tassoni, and Prescott, logged a lot of minutes and Zach Hand was once again very steady in net making a couple of great saves that we needed when the game was in doubt.”

The Windjammers had 32 shots on the net, while Presque Isle racked up 19.

Zach Hand had 19 saves in the net for the Windjammers, while Flynn had 29 saves.

Camden Hills had eight minor penalties which resulted in 16 minutes, while Presque Isle had seven minor penalties and a major penalty, resulting in 24 total minutes in the box.

Neither team could capitilize on power play opportunites as the Windjammers went 0-for-4, while Presque Isle went 0-for-3.

The game also marked the third straight shut-out for the Windjammers.
