Waldoboro Police beat: OUI, stolen tuna rods, drug possession

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 328 calls for service from June 6-26. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

    June 6

    Nelson Pendexter, 65, of South China, was arrested by Officer Larry Hesseltine for operating under the influence, failing to obey red traffic light and drinking in a motor vehicle. 

    Alexander Brown, 47, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for uninspected motor vehicle. 

    June 7 

    Zacariah Sawyer, 23, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Sgt. Jamie Wilson for domestic violence assault.                                   

    Officer William Bragg is investigating a report from a citizen that she is receiving harassing text messages. 

    Raymond Brann, 16, of Friendship, was issued a summons by Officer Chris Spear for operating beyond restriction. 

    June 8 

    Wilson investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 4:10 p.m. Jeremy Sherbert, 39, of Spruce Head, was driving a 2014 Volkswagen sedan. Jeanette Murphy, 42, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2012 Toyota sedan. Sherbert was traveling northbound on the Atlantic Highway. Sherbert was traveling behind Murphy, also heading northbound. Sherbert slowed down in traffic as several vehicles in front of her had slowed. Murphy did not slow down due to driver distraction and struck Sherbert in the rear. Injuries were reported. 

    Dylan Willey, 24, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer Thomas Bartunek on a warrant. 

    June 9 

    Bartunek investigated an accident on the Friendship Road at 4:41 a.m. Donald Simmons, Jr., 41, of Friendship, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck. Simmons was traveling northbound following roadway and ran off the roadway. Injuries were reported.                       

    Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen of the theft of a CMP meter. 

    Hesseltine is investigating a report from a resident of the theft of his mailbox. 

    Alexander Achorn, 19, of Nobleboro, was issued a summons by Hessletine for operating after suspension. 

    June 13       

    Larry Wellman, 38, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Hesseltine on a warrant, operating after suspension and attaching false plates. 

    June 15         

    Hesseltine is investigating a report from a citizen of the theft of tuna rods valued at $8,000. 

    June 16     

    Asa Pingree, 36, of North Haven, was issued a summons by Spear for uninspected motor vehicle. 

    June 17   

    Parker Lash, 18, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Spear for unlawful possession of scheduled drug. 

    A 12-year-old male from Rockland, was issued a summons by Spear for minor purchasing liquor.                       

    Evan Benner, 26, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Bragg for harvesting clams without a license.                       

    A 17-year-old female, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Bartunek for minor consuming liquor.                       

    Sierra Benner, 29, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer Andrew Santheson on a warrant. 

    June 18  

    Wilson investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 5:14 p.m. Robert Robitaille, 58, of Lewiston, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck. Lisa McMann-Morine, 51, of Portland, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet sedan. Robitaille was in the Dunkin Donuts drive thru line. McMann-Morine was behind Robitaille in drive thru line. Robitaille backed up while in line and struck McMann-Morine in the front bumper, causing damage. No injuries were reported.                  

    Officer John Lash investigated an accident on the North Nobleboro Road, at 9:08 p.m. Bernard Delima, 48, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2007 Honda van. He was traveling eastbound following the roadway. A deer came out from the passenger side of the vehicle, causing Delima to strike a deer in roadway. No injuries were reported. 

    June 19  

    Roger Feltis, 25, of Cannain, was issued a summons by Bragg for taking shellfish without a license.                       

    Gary Simmons, 44, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Bartunek for domestic violence assault and obstructing report of a crime. 

    June 20

    Hesseltine is investigating a report from a citizen of an unauthorized check that was written on her account. 

    June 21      

    Shane Sykes, 27, of Bristol, was issued a summons by Bragg for harvesting clams without a town license. 

    June 22        

    Shane Sykes, 27, of Bristol, was issued a summons by Bragg for harvesting clams without a town license. 

    June 23        

    Rebecca Hunt, 26, of Mathuen, Mass., was arrested by Spear for operating under the influence. 

    June 25

    Wilson investigated an accident at the Union Rd/ Chapel Rd/Manktown Rd intersection, at 7:22 p.m. Deanna Toler, 34, of Thomaston, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet sedan. Finn Whiting, 28, of Camden, was driving a 2008 Toyota, pickup truck with passengers Andrew Marchetti, and Peter Courand. Toler was traveling northbound on Manktown Road. Whiting was traveling northbound on the Union Road. Toler came to the intersection of the Union Road and failed to stop at the posted stop sign. Toler entered the Union Road and struck Whiting as it was traveling through the intersection, causing damage to both vehicles. Injuries were reported.
