Waldoboro Police beat: Criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, assault

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 138 calls for service from Jan. 1-9. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. 

    Jan. 1

    Sgt. Jamie Wilson investigated an accident on the Bremen Road at 4 p.m. Steven Ratcliff, 55, of Waldoboro, was driving a 1998 Saturn sedan. Ratcliff was traveling southbound on the Bremen Road and lost control when he went over a large section of icy roadway. He crossed over the northbound lane and struck several large trees in the northbound ditch. Injuries were reported. 

    Jan. 3              

    Brandon Luce, 22, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer Thomas Bartunek on a warrant. 

    Jan. 4                     

    Dymond Malmstrom, 21, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Officer Larry Hesseltine for operating after suspension.

    Dana Boardman, 59, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for permitting unlawful use.                   

    Chief William Labomarde is investigating a report from a citizen that she is receiving harassing text messages and calls.

    Bartunek is investigating a report from a citizen that he is receiving harassing calls 

    Jan. 6

    A 17-year-old male, of Damariscotta, was issued a summons by Officer Jeffery Fuller for criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and criminal trespass. 

    Brandi Griffin, 31, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Hesseltine for operating under the influence. 

    Jan. 8           

    Maynard Brewer, 51, of Southport Island, was arrested by Wilson for criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and assault. 

    Jan. 9 

    Jason King, 36, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Bartunek for assault. 

    Bartunek investigated an accident on the Finntown Road at 9:36 p.m. Tyler Emerson, 19, of Friendship, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck. Emerson was traveling westbound following the roadway, lost control and went off the side of the road, striking a utility pole. No injuries were reported.
