Waldoboro Police beat: Accidents, OUI

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 100 calls for service from Sept. 26-Oct. 3.  Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. 

    Oct. 3        

    Scott Soule, 33, of Thomaston, was issued a summons by Officer Chris Spear for failure to register vehicle. 

    Oct. 5          

    Officer Larry Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 8:15 a.m. Carrie Braman, 26, of Northport, was driving a 2012 Ford pickup truck. Robert Emery, 63, of Thomaston, was driving a 2005 GMC pickup truck. An unknown vehicle pulled out from Dunkin Donuts and failed to yield the right of way to Braman’s vehicle. Braman braked hard to avoid hitting the unknown vehicle. Emery was traveling behind Braman and also braked but could not avoid hitting the back of her vehicle. Injuries were reported. 

    Sgt. Jamie Wilson is investigating a report from a citizen of criminal mischief to his truck. 

    Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated a fatal accident on the Bremen Road at 7:40 p.m. The victim was Kevin Willey. 

    Oct. 7          

    Spear is investigating a report from a citizen of the theft of his trail cam and tripod, valued at $275. 

    Spear investigated an accident on the Friendship Road at 3:39 p.m. Christopher Hayward, 30, of Rockland, was driving a 2000 Nissan pickup truck. Hayward was traveling northbound following the Friendship Road. He lost the driver’s side rear tire while in transit. Hayward stopped his vehicle and rolled back into guardrail. No injuries were reported.                    

    Wilson is investigating a report from a citizen that she is receiving harassing phone calls. 

    Oct. 8          

    Scott Durgin, 55, of North Andover, Mass., was issued a summons by Hesseltine for speed. 

    Oct. 9          

    Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 12:50 p.m. Casey Kruger, 33, of Rockland, was driving a 2013 Hyundai sedan. Kelly Paine, 46, of Waterville, was driving a 2014 Nissan sedan. Kruger was traveling east bound on the Atlantic Highway and drove too fast for the conditions. The operator said he hydroplaned and crossed the centerline, hitting Paine head-on. Paine was traveling westbound on the Atlantic Highway, following the roadway. Injuries were reported. 

    Oct. 10       

    Bartunek investigated an accident on Depot Street at 10:52 p.m. Tony Cocco, 18, of Waldoboro, was operating a 2001 Chevrolet utility vehicle. He was traveling southbound, following the roadway on Depot Street and ran off the road. No injuries were reported.                                                            

    As a result of the accident, Tony Cocco, 18, of Waldoboro, was charged with operating under the influence and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
