UPDATE: Police apprehend inmate who walked off work release job site

    BRIGHTON — A Maine State Trooper captured Jonathan Edman, who ran off from a work detail in Kingsbury Plantation late Tuesday morning.

    According to Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland, Edman, 20, was apprehended just before 3 p.m. in Brighton, about 7 miles from where he ran off. He was reportedly captured near the intersection of routes 151 and 154.

    Edman is from Waterville and was being held at the Charleston Correctional Facility, where he was serving time for domestic violence assault and tampering with a witness.


     

    KINGSBURY PLANTATION — Law enforcement Tuesday afternoon are looking for a 20-year-old prisoner who ran off from a work detail in Kingsbury Plantation in Piscataquis County late Tuesday morning.

    Jonathan Edman, from Waterville, was part of a work detail along Route 16, between Abbott and Moscow, when he reportedly ran off into nearby woods. Edman is described as being 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 190 pounds, with sandy blond hair and blue eyes. Authorities said Edman also has self-inflicted scars on his forearms.

    He was being held at the Charleston Correctional Facility. Edman was serving time for assault and tampering with a witness, and should be considered dangerous.

    State Police and the Maine Warden Service have sent troopers and wardens to the area, including tracking dogs and a plane. Anyone who sees him should call State Police in Bangor at 973-3700 or call 911.
