WALDOBORO — Trout Fishing in America will be performing live, Saturday, April 13, at 4 p.m., at The Waldo, for music lovers of all ages.

Known as the “Lennon and McCartney of children’s music,” the musical performing duo Trout Fishing in America has garnered National Indie Awards, Parents Choice Gold Awards, American Library Awards and four Grammy nominations.

Trout Fishing in America is the songwriting collaboration of Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet. For almost 50 years, their vibrant, percussive sound and dynamic stage presence have cultivated a multi-generational fan base at performing arts centers, clubs, and music festivals across the country. Trout blends rock-n-roll, blues, funk, folk, and jazz influences with lyrics that are simultaneously witty, whimsical, and poignant, according to the Waldo, in a news release.

Known for songs like “My Hair Had a Party Last Night,” about waking up to a very bad hair day, “Eighteen Wheels on a Big Rig,” a counting song about trucks, or the gross “Alien in My Nose,” Idlet and Grimwood can perform from the point of view of a 6-year-old or charm the adult crowd with folksy love songs.

“Having released 25 albums on their own Trout Records label and traveled over a million miles while touring the United States and Canada, Trout Fishing in America is a band of stunning contrasts,” said the release. “Those contrasts, their deep, abiding friendship, and their solid musicianship bring people out to Trout shows year after year.”

General admission tickets are available for $15 in advance, $20 the day of the event. If this show has not sold out, a limited number of tickets may be available at the box office starting at 3 p.m. Doors open at 3 p.m., and concessions will be available for purchase. All tickets are final sale and non-refundable.
