Trekkers welcomes four new Board members, including two students
Trekkers, a Rockland-based nonprofit youth mentoring organization, welcomes four new members to its Board of Directors, reinforcing its commitment to engaging community and youth voices within its leadership.
Joining the board are Jesse Rutter, partner at Hanscom, Collins, & Rutter, who brings legal expertise and deep community involvement; Pete Rand, Chief Financial Officer at the Island Institute, who will serve as Board Treasurer and provide strategic financial guidance; and rising 12th grade student Evan Riley (Trekkers Team Crux) and rising 11th grade student, Zoe Hufnagel (Trekkers Team Katmai), ensuring that youth perspectives remain central to decision-making.
“At Trekkers, we believe young people deserve a seat at the table,” said Kathleen Meil, Trekkers Board President, in a news release. “Evan and Zoe bring insight, energy, and lived experience that strengthen our mission.”
The organization also bids farewell to outgoing board members, including Kathleen Meil, who steps down as Board President, passing the leadership to Jessie Davis, a longtime supporter and community leader. Student board members Liam Burlingham (Team Squaliform) and Anya Felton (Team Wobbegong) have graduated Trekkers and high school, leaving behind valuable contributions to committees, the capital campaign, and operational fundraising efforts, according to Trekkers.
"Trekkers is grateful for the dedication of both new and departing members," said Trekkers. "The team is excited to welcome new leadership as it continues to commit to serving the evolving needs of youth and eagerly anticipates its next phase with the creation of its new campus."
