Trekkers Hosts First Annual Thomaston Trek 5k and 10k Run/Walk

THOMASTON – Trekkers will be hosting their First annual Thomaston Trek 5K-10K on Saturday, June 7. The 5k or a 10k run or walk and is open to all levels of experience.

There is a $25 registration fee, which includes an event T-shirt and a pancake breakfast at The Slipway Restaurant. Registration will be open from 8-8:30am and the race will begin at 9am. The pancake breakfast will be held from 9-11am, hosted by volunteers and Trekkers students and families. For non-participants, there will be a $5.00 charge for the pancake breakfast.

The 5k and 10k route will start and end at The Slipway Restaurant, and winds through the historic residential streets of Thomaston. There will be local EMS on site for safety and intersection volunteers directing runners and walkers along the route.

The event is open to the public and community members are encouraged to participate. Trekkers’ students will be raising pledges to lower their student program fee, which helps fund their annual expeditions that range from 5-14 days in various locations across the continental U.S. The $25
registration fee will go towards the Trekkers nonprofit organization as a whole, benefitting all of the local youth mentoring programs.

Trekkers is a nonprofit organization that serves 7th- through 12th-grade students from the six communities in RSU# 13. The program connects local youth with caring adults and builds valuable life skills through expeditionary learning, community service, and adventure-based education.
