THOMASTON – For his third year now, Matinicus lobsterman Noah Ames has parked his truck in front of Midcoast Marine Supply at 153 New County Road in Thomaston on Christmas Eve and given away free lobsters to anyone who stopped. His whole family was involved this year and Ames put it simply – "This is what Christmas is all about."

Ames said that this year he was also doing a fundraiser for a good friend of his who's daughter is battling cancer.

"We're trying to do what we can for them," said Ames." Last year a lot of people tried to give me money and I turned them down and sent them to the Salvation Army. This year if they want to make a donation we will gladly accept it. If they don't it's not a big deal. Some people have and some people haven't."

Ames was proud that his whole family was involved with the free lobster giveaway this year. Other lobstermen had donated crates of lobsters to give away as well.

"Brian Rocket is a lobster buyer, he donated a crate," he said. "Atwood Lobster donated a crate, there was a crate from myself and Tadd Miller, a fellow fisherman and a friend of mine also donated lobsters. This is good for my family. It teaches them so much about this is what Christmas is all about."
