FREEDOM — Sylvia Anderson, 82, passed away peacefully Feb 1, 2017, with family by her side, at the Knox Center in Rockland. Born and raised in Freedom to the late Wilmarth and Therese Ashe, she once worked at Fort Halifax Poultry Plant in Winslow.

Sylvia was a member of the Freedom Ladies Auxiliary, loved playing bingo, was known to make pillows for those she loved, and cared for eight foster children.

Sylvia was predeceased by her husband, Charles, who passed away in 1999; her sister, Irene; her brother, Warren; and her grandson, Scott Anderson Jr.

Surviving are her loving children, Scott Anderson and his wife, Dyann, of Freedom, Steven Anderson and his wife, Denise, also of Freedom, Irene Raven and her husband, Jason, of Brooks, and Diane Kaufmann and her husband, William, of Albion; her grandchildren, Amanda, Brittney, Brooke, Dylan, Isaac, Ava, Joseph, Silas, Tanya and Joshua; her four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends may gather for visiting hours on Friday, Feb. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave. in  Belfast. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A springtime burial is planned.
