Meeting Aug. 22

RSU 71 continues talks about energy-saving improvements at Belfast High School

Fri, 08/19/2016 - 2:30pm

The RSU 71 School Board (Belfast, Belmont, Morrill, Searsmont and Swanville) will meet Monday, Aug. 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the Belfast Area High School Library. The agenda includes continued discussion and possible straw vote on the high school concept plans.

The board has been working this year, along with Siemens and WBRC Architects and Engineers, to develop concept projects that would address heating, ventilation, and energy savings in all RSU 71 schools,

The school board will continue to discuss the concerns regarding the tri-town schools throughout this school year, but have narrowed the concept projects to three for Belfast Area High School, with a goal of narrowing the project to a final choice in the coming weeks. This decision will allow the school board to move forward in asking the public for a finance bond to fund the chosen project on November 8. The decision will also allow the school board and Siemens to further design energy savings projects that will be funded within the existing district energy budget.
