Rockland hires Ginny Lindsey as finance director

    ROCKLAND — Virginia Lindsey, current finance director for Rockport, will replace Thomas Luttrell as finance director for the City of Rockland. James Chaousis II, city manager for Rockland, officially announced the placement during the October 14 city council meeting.

    Lindsey will start the job November 9 after nine years working for Rockport. Her starting salary will be $70,000, and she will receive benefits consistent with all City workers, according to Chaousis.  

    "I am very excited to be working in Rockland and joining the City Manager's team. I look forward to the opportunity," Lindsey said in a press release.

    According to the release, Lindsey is a Rockland native, graduated from Rockland High School in 1976, and attended the University of Maine. She lives in South Thomaston with her husband Wayne Lindsey Jr. 

    While acting as the Rockport Finance Director she improved the budgeting processes, budget presentation, cash management  policies, and helped articulate the complexities of municipal finance to the public. Much of her work is on display at the Town of Rockport website. She is active in professional affiliate organizations such as the Government Finance Officers Association and Maine Government Finance Officers Association ,” according to Chaousis in the release.

    Luttrell resigned from the position during the week of September 7, leaving interim Director Maura Halkiotis to fill the void while Rockland chose amongst the 13 qualified candidates vying for the position.

    Today, the Rockland City Manager is announcing that Virginia "Ginny" Lindsey has been hired for the position of Finance Director . The City received thirteen qualified applicants for the position and Ginny was quickly identified due to the exceptional work that she has done for the Town of Rockport, in the same capacity, for the last nine years.

    Ginny is originally from Rockland and her parents still reside in the city. She is a proud graduate of Rockland High School class of 1976 and also a product of the University of Maine system . She lives in South Thomaston with her husband Wayne Lindsey Jr.
