Overnight ramp closures at Route 1 Brunswick, Aug. 3
BRUNSWICK — The Maine Department of Transportation began work on Route 1 in Brunswick on July 6. Work is scheduled to be completed by December 1, 2025.
On August 3, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., crews will close the northbound and southbound ramps of U.S. Route 1 leading to the Main Street Bridge and the Topsham Bypass Bridge over the Androscoggin River one at a time. Each closure will be clearly marked with cones and signage directing drivers to the next available exit.
These closures are part of an ongoing highway rehabilitation project. The project area begins 0.17 miles east of Cushing Street and extends east 3.02 miles as well as 0.70 miles west of Old Bath Road and extends west 3.39 miles. The project area includes all approaches and ramps. This project consists of highway rehabilitation, pavement milling, hot mix asphalt overlay, and safety improvements.
The contractor on this project is Coastal Road Repair of Westbrook. The contract amount is $15,544,396.25.
