Oceanside Girls Tennis takes MCI in regular play

ROCKLAND – The Oceanside Varsity Girls Tennis team took on the Maine Central Institute from Pittsfield April 24 at Oceanside. Final score Oceanside 4, MCI 1.

Girls varsity coach Joanna Hall said it's always a pleasure to play MCI.

"They're always nice to play," she said. "They have really nice girls and we have great weather, it's a perfect day for tennis. I asked the MCI girls and they said they didn't play much over break either, so good, we're in the same boat."

Hall said her team has a good number of returning players.

"From last year we lost our first and second singles player," she said. "Gabby Simmons has moved up into first singles and Molly Davis moved from third singles up into second. Cassidy Boynton has also moved up into singles, so we're looking to get more experience."

Hall said her team gets better everyday.

"Both our doubles teams are new to each other," she said. "That will take some time to get used to and they can figure out where their groove is. Hopefully we'll gain a playoff spot and see what happens."
