Naming Camden’s newest community space: What do you want to call it?

Fri, 04/28/2017 - 9:15am

The Camden Farmers' Market has a new home at the site of the former Apollo Tannery at 116 Washington Street, and it will be the first feature of a new multi-use community space as envisioned by the Select Board's sanctioned Tannery Work Group during the course of an intensive two year process. (see map)

But this new community space needs a name.

A group of community members dedicated to the project have been authorized by the Camden Select Board to poll the town to help choose this new name.

The park space runs alongside the Camden Riverwalk and could include a playground, basketball court, pickle-ball, sculpture garden, open green space, ice skating as well as many other possibilities.

Community input and fundraising will be pursued to create the various features of the park.

The citizens who are volunteering their time to help shape the future of the space are asking to public to help select a name for it all. To vote, see the PenBayPilot.com online poll at the upper left corner of the site’s front page, or email the citizens at tresek@gmail.com; or call Tom Resek, 207-245-1272.

    The choices are:

    Camden Riverpark

    Millville Commons

    Riverwalk Commons

    Tannery Park
