MRC offers summer tennis camps

ROCKPORT — Midcoast Recreation Center is offering a variety tof youth tennis clinics for students in kindergarten through 12th grade looking to fine tune their games — or those playing for the first time.

The camps run Monday through Thursday beginning June 29 and concluding Aug. 20, with the youth camp for ages 10 and younger at MRC and the middle- and high school-aged camps taking place at Camden Hills Regional High School.

All camps will be under the direction of Seth Meyer, MRC tennis director and head teaching pro, along with Noah Capetta, MRC pro and Camden Hills boys varsity tennis coach and MRC pro Deb Merchant.

Midcoast high school and college tennis players also will assist with the clinics.

Dates for the 10-and-younger camp, which will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday at MRC, are: June 29-July 2, July 13-16, Aug. 3-6 and Aug. 17-20. Camps will consist of leading to rally, play and other fun activities.

Dates for the middle school and high school camps, which will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at CHRHS, are: July 6-9, July 20-23 and Aug. 10-13. Camps will consist of stroke production, match play, other fun activities and Davis Cup Play.

In addition, MRC will run a High Performance tennis camp July 27-30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at CHRHS for those with more experience.
