ROCKPORT – The Camden Hills boys tennis team hosted Morse of Bath in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference championships for Class B Tennis.

The two teams play twice before this season with each team taking a 3-2 win on their home court so this was a rubber match of sorts for the two teams.

After the Windjammers doubles teams made quick work of their Morse opponents it came down to the three singles matches which Morse won to take the 3-2 win.

“It always comes down to the singles players when ever we play Morse,” said Camden Hills coach Noah Capetta.

Both teams entered the KVAC matchup 11-1 on the season with their only losses coming to each other. These two teams could meet again, for the class B state championship.

Thursday’s match was played at Midcoast Recreation Center instead of the Camden Hills courts due to the weather forecast.

The individual results with the Camden Hills players listed first were, in singles, Austin Pohlman lost to Thomas Jarmusz 6-2, 7-6(6); Josiah Krul lost to Stephen Tapia 6-2, 6-4; and Matt Morse lost to Matthew Jarmusz 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles, Jared Garske and Colby Arau defeated Wade Dangle and Justin Trottier 6-3, 6-0; and Josiah Simko and Eric Blohm defeated Oskar Matero and Colin McCarthy 6-2, 6-3.

The boys tennis playoffs start Tuesday, June 2. No. 2 Camden Hills will get a bye and will play a quarterfinal game against the winner of the No. 7 Presque Isle and No. 10 Oceanside.
