CAMDEN — Milton Earl Dyer Jr., 92, died Nov. 24, 2014, at Windward Gardens in Camden. Born in Camden on Jan. 30, 1922, and was the son of Milton E. and Azizeh "Elizabeth" (Ayoube) Dyer.

He graduated from Camden High School in the Class of 1940, and attended the University of Maine at Orono. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946, and attained the rank of sergeant. Milton was in the European Theater of Operations and was awarded two battle stars. He was employed by the Consultant Engineer's on the Maine Turnpike from 1947 to 1948, and the state of Maine Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1984. He worked on secondary roads as a resident engineer and was a registered professional land surveyor for the state of Maine from 1968 to 1991.

Milton was a past Master of Kennebec Lodge No. 5 A.F. & A.M., a recipient of the 50-year Masonic medal, past High Priest of Jerusalem R.A.C. No. 4, and member of Alpha Council No. 3 R. & S.M. of Hallowell.

He was one of the organizers of Boy Scout Troop 177 of Farmingdale.

Milton is survived by his wife, Doris Decker Dyer; their son, Jonathan T. Dyer and his wife, Sylvia, of Belgrade Lakes Village; their daughter, Lesa A. Kitching and her husband, Carl, of Thomaston; his grandson, Adam T. Kitching of Thomaston; one sister, Barbara F. Dyer of Camden; two nieces, Elizabeth A. Moran and family of Northport and Cynthia A. Rogers and family of Camden. He was predeceased by a son, David L. Dyer; and a sister, Dorothy D. Ames.

In keeping with his wishes, there are no services planned at this time. Interment will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Camden at the convenience of the family.
