ROCKLAND – The Oceanside freshmen girls basketball team opened up the night of three games against rival Camden Hills with a second half surge that pushed them over the top and onto a 55-36 win over the visitors.

Camden Hills took a 10-5 first quarter lead as the Mariners came out slow and out of sync. The second quarter was a different story as the Mariners regrouped and took a 26-20 lead into the halftime break. By the end of the third quarter the Mariners had built a 15-point 40-25 lead heading into the final stanza where they put the game away.

The Mariners had three players in double figures, Gabby Simmons had a game high 19 points, Amelia Campbell 13; and Lauren Miller 12. Other scorers were, Charlotte Leparulo with eight points; Kylie Farnham two and Cassidy Boynton one.

Oceanside was 10-of-21 (48 percent) from the foul line and they had one basket from behind the arc from Simmons.

For the Windjammers, Nicole Brown tallied 10 points; Abby O’Donal seven; Payton Wiley and Kesha Lane four each; Gillian Lafleche and May Wiley three each;Meghan Gallagher and Madison Maxwell two each; and Piper Dunton one.

The Windjammers were 8-of-19 (42 percent) from the foul line.
