Marian Buss passed away on March 15, 2017, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor. She was born in Craftsbury, Vt., on May 11,1925.

She married the love of her life, James Buss, at the end of World War ll. They enjoyed a marriage of 71 years. She was a feisty 92-year-old who fought hard to live, but her heart was just not strong enough.

(Much thanks to the emergency staff for their care and consideration).

Marian lived a full and active life. She served in the United States Navy WAVE (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during World War ll and as a dependent traveling to Morocco, Cuba, Jamaica, etc. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, and most importantly a mother. Her greatest accomplishment as a mother was to raise three wonderful children, who gave her great joy.

She was an excellent student, graduating from high school and then business college by the time she was 18. Marian also proved to be a great athlete, having captained her alma mater's basketball team and practicing for the Olympics, swimming daily. Like Esther Williams, she too could glide through the water with grace and ease.

Marian is survived by her daughter, Linda Davis; and her sons, Shawn and his wife, Kimberly, and Rob Davis; her daughter, Julie Baerenrodt and her son, Eric; as well as other extended family members.

She was predeceased by her husband, James; and her son, Skip.

Marian will be buried at Augusta Veterans Cemetery with James.
