THOMASTON — Margaret M. "Peggy" (Duffy) Meklin, passed away July 12, 2015, at the age of 84 due to complications of illness, after a brief stay at Pen Bay Medical Center.

Peggy graduated from Brookline High School (Massachusetts) with the Class of 1951. After graduation she worked for the John Hancock Insurance Company in Boston until leaving to raise a family with the father of her children, Gosta Oke Meklin of Warren.

In the early 60s she moved to Rockland. She became an employee of the J.J. Newberry store on Main Street in the early 70s and remained working with the company until the store's closure in 1996.

Peggy was a parishioner of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, a member of the Daughters of St. Bernard, worked on bingo nights and enjoyed Graymoor retreats. Peggy showed her devotion to her faith right to the last hours of her life. Even when unable to drive she watched mass regularly on the EWTN network and in particular enjoyed the program Mother Angelica.

During her retirement Peggy enjoyed Maine Line Bus Tours and caring for her four grandchildren. In the last years of her life she resided at the Knox Center.

Peggy was preceded in death by her guardians, Coburn G. Duval of Jackman and his wife, Helena E. Duval of Cambridge, Mass.

She is survived by three sons, Kevin of Brasilia, Karl and his wife, Elaine, and Dana and his fiancée, Michele (and her sons Cody and Keegan), all of Rockland; her four grandchildren, Dylan, Jared, Sam and Ainsley, all of Rockland; as well as her dear friend, Pat, who was like a sister to her.

We are sure our mother has found inner peace as she unites with her parents.

A graveside celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, July 21 at 3 p.m. at Coughlin Memorial Cemetery on Rankin Street in Rockland. The Rev. Richard Malo will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Bernard's church, 150 Broadway, Rockland, ME 04841.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home.
