Maine State Police Troop D beat
AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity, May 5-20. Below are some of the highlights, as reported by the agency. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.
May 5
Sgt. Patrick Hood and Troopers Seth Allen, Christopher Rogers, Kyle Pelletier and Mark Ferreira responded to a 911 hang-up call in Whitefield, where a dispatcher was told that two people were going to be shot. Further investigation revealed that a verbal altercation had occurred and the two parties left and called 911. Later, a male suspect was located and warned for criminal trespassing at the residence in Whitefield.
Trooper Jonathan Leach responded to a disturbance at the Pilgrim Lodge in West Gardiner where a suspect was swinging an iron fire poker and making comments about other people not being safe. The man in question was brought to Maine General medical Center in Waterville for further evaluation.
May 6
Troopers Donald Webber and Benjamin Sweeney responded to the report of a disturbance at a residence in Monroe. Though no charges resulted from the altercation, troopers did locate 84 marijuana plants in a greenhouse room set up in a bedroom. Casey Hale, 29, was summonsed for cultivation of marijuana.
Trooper Desiree Wuthenow and Sgt. Hood responded to the report of a burglary on Cape Jellison Road in Stockton Springs. The investigation is ongoing.
May 7
Trooper Allen stopped a vehicle on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale for operating with studded tires. Upon further investigation Robin Gibson, 44, was arrested on a warrant for unpaid fines and summonsed for operating after suspension.
Trooper Wuthenow responded to Coles Corner Road in Winterport for a report of theft at Hughes Brothers Inc., which had been broken into overnight using a back entrance. The company reported manganese was taken from the property. The investigation is ongoing.
Trooper Kyle Pelletier stopped a vehicle on Route 1 in Bath for having an expired inspection sticker. One of the occupants of the vehicle, Stephen Flewelling, 35, had a warrant for failing to appear for charges of assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. Flewelling was arrested and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail.
Trooper Thomas Bureau responded to the report of a civil issue on Pineview Drive in Winterport. As a result, Frederick Sibley, 23, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Trooper Evan Teel responded to a report of theft in Winterport, where the complainant stated bottles and cans had been taken from her residence. The loss was estimated at $30. During the investigation the missing items were found at a nearby residence. The investigation is ongoing.
Trooper Rogers stopped to assist a disabled Ohio-registered truck hauling meat on I-295 in Richmond. Further investigation revealed the driver, Jessica M. Eversole, 32, had outstanding warrants from Kentucky and she was arrested and taken to Kennebec Valley Jail by Trooper Ferreira. The male passenger stated he had plans to sell the meat in a convenience store parking lot, but had no paperwork for the meat and no license to sell it. Trooper Robert Cejka contacted the Maine Department of Agriculture and an inspector declared the 34 boxes of meat not fit for human consumption. The truck was impounded while arrangements to destroy the meat were made.
Trooper James Leonard stopped Elizabeth Cope, 45, for speeding on Route 127 in Woolwich. During the stop the trooper discovered Cope had a conditional license and had consumed several beers earlier in the day. Cope was arrested for operating under the influence.
May 8
Trooper Wuthenow stopped Lorrain Northup, 53, of Searsport, on Main Street in Belfast for operating without a seat belt. Further investigation revealed Northup had attached false plates and she was summonsed for the offense.
Trooper Ferreira stopped Alyssa Freitas, 18, of Cape Elizabeth, on Route 295 in Gardiner for speeding. Freitas was summonsed for operating after suspension.
Trooper Ferreira stopped David Andrews, 64, of South Bristol, on Route 27 in Pittston for expired registration stickers. Andrews was summonsed for the offense.
Trooper James Macdonald stopped a vehicle on North Searsport Road in Swanville because the operator, Tonya Ray, 38, wasn't wearing a seat belt. Further investigation revealed Ray's license was suspended and she was summonsed for the offense.
Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Alder Park Road in China for having a suspicious inspection sticker. Further investigation revealed it was a 2008 sticker and the driver, Jason Foss, 36, stated he recently put the vehicle "back on the road." The investigation revealed that Foss' license was suspended and he was summonsed for operating after suspension.
May 9
Trooper Donald Webber stopped a vehicle on Route 1 in Belfast for a non-moving violation. Webber identified the operator as Cheyenne Larrabee, 20, of Belfast, and subsequently found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Larrabee became out-of-control physically when told all contraband would be taken as evidence and she was arrested for disorderly conduct and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. She was also summonsed for possessing a useable amount of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.
Trooper Webber made contact with Radley Willard, 42, of Bangor, at a motel in Stockton Springs. He was arrested on a warrant and transported to Waldo County Jail.
Trooper Webber responded to a report from a concerned citizen in Belfast that Jesse Grinnell, 23, of Lincolnville, was seen driving despite his license being revoked. Grinnell was located operating on Route 52 a short time later. Waldo County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Littlefield assisted in identification when Grinnell gave Trooper Webber his brother's name and date of birth. It was then revealed that Grinnell was on probation for operating after habitual offender revocation with four prior charges of operating after suspension. He was arrested and charged with operating after suspension and failing to provide the correct name and date of birth.
May 11
Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on North Searsport Road in Swanville for having a suspicious inspection sticker. Further investigation revealed the operator, Christina Whitcomb, 27, had changed the sticker by cutting the "8" tab out and placing it where the "2" tab would be. Whitcomb's license was also suspended and she was summonsed for operating after suspension and displaying a fictitious inspection sticker.
Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Route 3 in Belfast because the operator, Danielle Pollard, 27, wasn't wearing a seat belt. Pollard was ultimately summonsed for operating without a license when it was revealed her South Carolina driver's license was suspended.
Troopers Erin Ball, Allen and Pelletier responded to a motor vehicle crash in Litchfield where one vehicle had fled the scene. Trooper Pelletier was able to find the motorist who fled and return him to the scene. Christopher Mosher, 22, of Litchfield was summonsed for leaving the scene of an accident and failure to provide proof of insurance.
May 12
Troopers Leach and Niles Krech responded to First Street in West Gardiner for a 911 call. Following an investigation, Scott Rowles, 44, was arrested for domestic violence assault.
May 13
Trooper Pelletier stopped Carlton Raymond, 29, for speeding on Route27 in Dresden. Raymond was subsequently arrested and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail, charged with operating with an expired license in excess of 90 days and violating conditions of release.
Trooper Ferreira stopped Johnathan Tibbetts, 29, of Livermore Falls, on Windsor Street in Randolph for not wearing his seat belt. Tibbetts was issued a summons for operating after suspension and released from the scene.
Trooper Cejka stopped Anthony Pingitore, 37, of New York, for speeding on I-295 in Richmond. A search of his van uncovered marijuana and he was charged with marijuana possession and released.
May 14
Trooper Allen responded to the theft of a motor boat in China. The investigation is ongoing.
Trooper Allen stopped Scott Pilsbury, 46, in Windsor for a vehicle defect. An investigation revealed that Pilsbury had two warrants for failing to appear. Pilsbury was arrested and transported to jail.
Trooper Ferreira stopped Melody Michaud, 35, of Chelsea, on Route 9 in Chelsea. Michaud was issued a summons for operating after suspension and released from the scene.
Trooper Wuthenow responded to a complaint of criminal mischief at a residence on East Waldo Road in Waldo. The investigation is ongoing.
May 15
Trooper Leonard investigated the theft of a grinder, rototiller, ice fishing traps, golf driver and an air compressor from a residence on Town House Road in Chelsea. The grinder and compressor were located and recovered from a Lewiston pawn shop. A warrant is being sought for a suspect.
Troopers Bureau and Teel responded to a family fight on Morgan Lane in Searsmont.
Trooper Smith investigated a report of criminal mischief in Belmont but the victim refused to cooperate with the investigation.
Trooper Smith received a report of telephone harassment in Northport. Contact with the offender is pending.
Trooper Smith received a report of telephone harassment in Morrill. The offender was contacted and warned to cease the harassing calls.
Trooper Smith responded to a criminal mischief report in Palermo. A vehicle was damaged at some point during the last two weeks. The case remains under investigation.
Trooper Smith initiated a burglary investigation in Liberty, where an unoccupied home had been burglarized in the last three weeks. The homeowners reported missing a coin collection and jewelry. The case remains under investigation.
May 16
Trooper Smith, assisted by Waldo S.O., checked the welfare of a Belmont resident due to concerns for his safety. The man was found to be well.
Trooper Smith investigated a camp break-in on Davis Shore Road in Palermo, where a window and sliding glass door were destroyed. The case remains open.
Trooper Smith received a report of an email scam by a resident of Morrill. A suspicious email was received soliciting credit card information for an alleged purchase from Wal-Mart. The recipient contacted the merchant and learned it was a wide-spread scam attempt.
Troopers Webber and Fowlie investigated a report of theft on Barton Road in Windsor. The investigation is ongoing.
May 17
At 1 a.m., Trooper Bureau attempted to stop a red pick-up truck heading westbound on Pleasant View Ridge Road in China for a defective plate light. After turning on the vehicle, Bureau noticed the vehicle driving down the road with all of the lights turned off and observed the pick-up pulling into a driveway on McCaslin Road. The operator, Matthew Conlogue, 42, was arrested for operating under the influence.
Trooper Wuthenow took a complaint of a motor vehicle crash on Route 3 in Montville. Upon investigation, Wuthenow and Sgt. Hood found the operator who had fled the scene at a nearby residence. It was also determined that Freda Drinkwater, 34, had been operating under the influence when she drove her vehicle on top of a pile of rocks at the 10-4 store. Drinkwater was taken to Waldo County Jail and charged with OUI.
Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Route 3 in China after it failed to stop while making a right turn on a red light. Macdonald made contact with the juvenile operator and immediately noticed several cases of beer in the back seat. Macdonald also detected the odor of marijuana and had all passengers exit the vehicle. The investigation revealed all persons in the vehicle were 16 and headed to a party in China. The operator was charged with illegal possession of alcohol, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Another juvenile, who was in the back seat, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and a third, who was also in the back seat, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. All parents were notified of the stop.
Trooper Wesbrock responded to assist Lt. David Tripp with a vehicle stop on Route 137 in Knox. Tripp had stopped a motorcycle driver for erratic operation and Wesbrock charged Jeffrey Rumney, 45, of Belfast, with operating under the influence.
Trooper Wesbrock learned Glenn Reed, 55, of Lincolnville, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Reed was located at his residence on Townhouse Road and arrested without incident.
Trooper Sweeney participated in the Incident Management Assistance Team deployment, assisting with the investigation into the missing juvenile in Glenburn.
May 18
Trooper Smith and K9 Freyja performed a K9 demonstration as part of Kennebec Valley Humane Society's annual Paws in the Park event at Buker Community Center.
Troopers Petrini and Macdonald went to Fire Road 43 in China after they received information an underage drinking party was taking place. Troopers immediately located several juveniles sitting around a camp fire and some were noticeably intoxicated. Petrini spoke with the homeowner, William Levesque, 57, who denied knowledge of the juveniles drinking. After speaking with witnesses at the party, Levesque was charged with furnishing alcohol to minors. The juvenile's parents were contacted.
Troopers Wuthenow and Wesbrock took a complaint of a 911 hang-up call on Chapman Drive in Lincolnville. Upon investigation no emergency was detected however Dale Moulton, 56, of Lincolnville, was found to be in possession of a marijuana pipe. Moulton was summonsed for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Troopers Ferreira and Rogers responded to a motorcycle crash on Route 27 in Pittston at Moulton Road. Christopher Dennison, 43, of Livermore Falls, lost control of his motorcycle as he was traveling southbound on Route 27. Dennison suffered head trauma and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with non- life threatening injuries. He was subsequently charged with OUI and the investigation continues.
Troopers Ferreira and Rogers stopped Mark Glantz on Ferry Road in Chelsea. Glantz was identified in an earlier complaint as a suspended driver and had been seen driving, and he was operating a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle at the time of the stop. Glantz was issued a summons for operating after suspension and attaching false plates.
May 19
Trooper Macdonald was dispatched to Winslow Road in Albion for a possible crash. Central Maine Power was on scene replacing a destroyed pole and advised they noticed debris and a trail of liquid in the roadway. Macdonald arrived on scene and found a license plate, which came back to an address in Chelsea. After following the trail of liquid and searching the area Macdonald was unable to locate the vehicle but while passing the China Lake Store, Macdonald observed a vehicle pull into the parking lot next to a badly damaged black pickup truck matching the description of the vehicle the license plate belonged on. An investigation revealed Eric Bineau, 25, crashed the truck and drove it to the store, where he called for his father to pick him up. Field sobriety tests were conducted and Bineau was arrested for operating under the influence and also charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
Trooper Wesbrock stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 32 in China. Joey Peaslee, 32, of Jefferson, was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle greater than 150 days and operating an uninspected motor vehicle.
