Maine State Police Troop D beat: OUI, pot, trench coats

    AUGUSTA —  Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity April 7-13. Troop D is responsible for Maine's Midcoast, including Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Waldo, and Knox counties, the southern half of Kennebec County and part of northern Cumberland County. The troop also patrols Interstate 295, from Brunswick to Gardiner. The troop's complement includes a lieutenant, three sergeants, 25 troopers and a secretary. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    April 7

    Trooper Kyle Pelletier stopped Tod Beane, 18, on Northern Avenue in Farmingdale. At the time of the traffic stop Beane's license was suspended. He was issued a summons for operating after suspension.

    Trooper Jeremiah Wesbrock stopped a vehicle on Route 17 in Hope for displaying expired registration. Marcia Kenney, 42, of Hope, was issued a summons for operating after suspension.

    Wesbrock stopped a vehicle on Route 1 in Rockland for displaying expired registration. Patricia Amoroso, 61, of Cushing, was issued a summons for operating with expired registration greater than 150 days.

    April 8

    Wesbrock stopped a vehicle on Route 90 in Rockport for displaying expired registration. Michael Ewalt, 27, of Union, was issued a summons for operating with expired registration greater than 150 days.

    Trooper Thomas Bureau stopped to check on a motorist on Harris Road in Stockton Springs. Alexander J. Morris, 22, said he was having car trouble. Further investigation found a usable amount of marijuana in the vehicle along with marijuana a pipe. A white powdered substance, confirmed to be cocaine, was found in Morris' front left pocket. Morris was arrested and transported to Waldo County Jail for possession of cocaine.

    Bureau stopped Jon Loring, 38, on Route 1 in Belfast for operating with a headlight out. Upon further investigation Trooper Bureau learned the passenger, Hope A. Fitt, 23, had two warrants for her arrest. Fitt was transported to Waldo County Jail for processing.

    Troopers Eric Verhille, James Leonard and Seth Allen went to Academy Road in Litchfield to conduct a warrant check on Derek Demers, 32. Demers was arrested without incident.

    Trooper Desiree Wuthenow received a complaint of a possible break in on North Searsport Road in Prospect. The complainant noticed that a screen and an outside door had been tampered with at some point in the early morning hours. Nothing was taken from the residence and the investigation continues.

    April 9

    Wuthenow conducted a probation check in Stockton Springs.

    Trooper James MacDonald stopped a vehicle on Starrett Drive in Belfast. Jason Willard, 37, had a suspended license and he was issued a summons for the operating after suspension.

    Trooper Bethany Robinson stopped Jon Loring, 38, of Indian Island, for a vehicle defect. A vehicle search resulted in discovery of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Loring was issued summonses for possession of a usabe amount of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

    Trooper Allen stopped David Reynolds, 29, of Auburn, on Route 126 in Litchfield for not having registration plates on his vehicle. Reynolds was issued a summons for failure to register a motor vehicle and the car was towed.

    April 10

    Trooper Allen stopped Kenneth Emerson, 55, of Litchfield, on Hallowell Road for displaying expired registration. Emerson's license was suspended and he was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Corey Smith stopped a vehicle speeding on Main Street in Winterport. David Sowers, 40, of Winterport, was issued a summons for operating a vehicle with expired registration 90-plus days.

    Troopers Smith and Benjamin Sweeney responded to Winterport for a domestic disturbance.

    Trooper Erin Ball stopped Jenny Santos, 25, on Crowley Road in Lewiston for not having an inspection sticker. Santos was also found to be operating after suspension. Santos was issued summonses for both infractions and released from the scene with a licensed driver.

    April 11

    Troopers Ball and Donald Webber responded to a possible domestic altercation in Farmingdale.

    Trooper Sweeney initiated a traffic stop on Clark Road in Prospect. Paul Maguire, 52, of Prospect, was issued a summons for illegal attachment of plates.

    Sweeney initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Main Street in Belfast. Bryan Marr, 26, of Belfast, had a suspended status on his driver's license. Marr was issued a summons for the offense.

    Allen stopped Stacey Ricker, 32, in Litchfield for not displaying an inspection sticker. At the time of the stop Ricker's license had expired in Nov. 2013. Ricker was issued a summons for the offense.

    Allen stopped Malcolm Hathorne, 46, in Litchfield for a vehicle defect. At the time of the stop Hathorne's license was under suspension and he was issued a summons for the offense. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

    Bureau stopped Ryan Kadnar, 27, on I-95 in Waterville. Kadnar was clocked on radar traveling 97 mph in a 65 mph zone and he was issued a summons for exceeding the speed limit by 30 mph or more and released.

    Robinson warned Brady Beal, 20, of Brewer, not to return to Spruce Lane in Winterport because of an earlier altercation with the tenants. Brady said he had no intentions of going back to the home.

    April 12

    MacDonald stopped a vehicle in the McDonald's parking lot in Belfast after he observed poor operation on Route 1 in Belfast. James Holland, 41, was ultimately issued summonses for operating under the influence, possession of a usable amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    MacDonald stopped a vehicle on Rt. 3 in Searsmont for having expired registration stickers. Joseph Dieffenbacher, 54, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration greater than 150 days.

    Sergeant Patrick Hood stopped Timothy Mayhew, 21, on Route 1 in Rockland for a vehicle defect. He was arrested for operating under the influence.

    Troopers Ball, Verhille and Wing responded to Blake Road in Farmingdale for a report of three suspicious males wearing black trench coats. The neighborhood was searched but nothing out of the ordinary was found.

    Trooper Smith responded to a vehicle rollover on Loggin Road in Frankfort during the early morning hours. Investigation continues.

    April 13

    Smith responded to the scene of a hit and run crash on Howard Road in Belmont involving a black Honda sedan that side-swiped a light blue car parked next to the roadway. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact Trooper Corey Smith.

    Wesbrock stopped a vehicle on Route 90 in Warren for displaying expired registration. Jeremiah Gray, 31, of Warren, was issued summonses for operating after suspension and displaying expired registration.

    Allen arrested Matthew Bradley, 29, at his home in Gardiner on a warrant for failure to appear.

    Allen arrested Kayla O'Brien, 20, in Augusta on a warrant for unpaid fines. O'Brien was the passenger in a vehicle that had been stopped for another passenger not wearing their seatbelt.
