Letter to the editor: Thanks from Rockland District Nursing Association

Mon, 11/24/2014 - 5:15pm

At this time of giving thanks, all of us with the Rockland District Nursing Association are once again reminded of the tremendous kindness and generosity our friends and neighbors share through the year. With our "Basket Social Season" this fall, RDNA reached further into the communities we serve. The South Thomaston library invited us to join their fall yard sale. We offered CPR/First Aid classes in Thomaston and Owls Head, and for the first time took the annual auction online. With each event, we were welcomed with open arms and graciously supported.

RDNA wishes to thank all who made this sojourn a reality. We thank our many donors — FIORE Artisan Olive Oils & Vinegars, Rheal Day Spa, Victorian By the Sea B&B, Reading Corner, H&D Home & Lawn Services, Eastern Tire, Monhegan Boat line, Rock Coast Rollers, Maritime Energy, Samoset, PDQ, Quilt Divas, Trackside Station, Rock Harbor Restaurant & Brewery, Danica Design Candles, Clan MacLaren, Coastal Maine Popcorn, The Chowder House, Jewelry by Nansea, Wayside Tearoom House, Inc., Captain Jack Lobster Boat Adventure, Park Street Cleaners, Rocks with a Twist Designs, Owls Head Transportation Museum, Plants Unlimited, Over the Rainbow Yarn, The Landings Restaurant, Jess's Market, Breakwater Vineyards, Rock City Coffee, Moody's Diner, Bianca's Exquisite Gifts, Sharon Spaulding and the Keag Store. We thank our band of wonderful bakers, Pennie Alley, the South Thomaston librarian, and the South Thomaston library for welcoming us into the fold. We thank the Owls Head community and Thomaston Baptist Church for providing CPR class space, Knox EMA for helping spread the word, and Joe Moore for his expertise and guidance through these courses. And we thank all who attended and participated. Your willingness to give to RDNA, and embrace our mission of a healthier community for all, warms our hearts and strengthens us.

Each day RDNA is reminded how important our services are to the residents our nurses visit. Today RDNA sees close to 300 predominantly elderly residents either in their homes in Warren, Union, South Thomaston, Owls Head, St. George, Cushing, Thomaston and Rockland, or at monthly blood pressure clinics. For the past 85 years, RDNA has continuously served as a link in the community safety net, focusing on neighbors in need of care, and sustained through the generosity of this community.

We can't do what we do without you.
Again, we thank you!
