Letter to the editor: Ellie Goldberg has mix of compassion, strength, and experience

Dear Residents of  Appleton, Hope, part of Union,  and Warren:

As your Senator, I know how important it is to have smart, dedicated people to represent you in Augusta. When Rep. Sukeforth decided to step down as House Representative for District 95, I knew right away that Ellie Goldberg would be a great replacement. Her enthusiasm is contagious, her dedication is rock solid, and her abilities have been proven by her years of service to the children and families of our state.

Ellie took on the hard job of visiting homes for Child Protective Services to make sure children were safe and getting the care they needed. She was a founder of the Maine Children’s Alliance, which gave her a firsthand education in the workings of Augusta. She has an intimate knowledge of her community.  While working with her on her campaign, I realized that she knowsmany of the folks who make up House District 95 and, while meeting with them,  has listened to their concerns relating to Augusta and to their hopes for the future.

Ellie has a mix of compassion, strength, and experience that allows her to listen patiently to ideas, find solutions, and then work with others to get things done. This should be the definition of the State Representative position, and we are lucky to have a candidate who fits it so well.

If I am fortunate enough to continue as your State Senator, I would feel honored to work with Ellie.

Please send Ellie Goldberg to Augusta November 8.

Sen. Dave Miramant lives in Camden.
