Letter to the editor: Eleuthera-bound students thank local businesses

The Camden Rockport Middle School Eleuthera Exchange program would like to offer a sincere thank-you to all the local businesses that donated to the group’s recent fundraising raffle.  With the community’s help and support, the students have successfully met their fundraising goal.

This is the first year that CRMS has extended this unique exchange opportunity to seventh graders.  Led by CRMS seventh grade science teacher Katie Bauer, a select group of local students will be traveling to the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas in February to study marine ecology and environmental sustainability through the Cape Eleuthera Foundation.  CRMS students and families enjoyed meeting their Bahamian exchange counterparts this past September as a group of 13 Bahamian students from Eleuthera’s Deep Creek Middle School traveled to Camden to participate in the CRMS Ecology, Economics and Engineering program at CRMS and Tanglewood.

The following businesses made generous raffle prize donation to this fundraising effort:  Boynton McKay, Market Basket, Spoon, Beach Inspiration, Smiling Cow, CedarWorks, EBS, Maine Street Meats, Laugh Loud Smile Big, Grand Harbor Inn, YMCA, Camden Deli, Mama's Boy and The Maine Dog.
