Knox County Sheriff’s beat: Drug possession, operating under the influence

    The Knox County Sheriff's office received 240 calls for service from Jan. 18-24.Those calls that are not listed below include issues with all terrain vehicles, alarms, 911 hang-ups, nuisance, erratic vehicles and suspicious complaints. An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

    Jan.18

    Deputy Paul Spear arrested Candace Jones, 39, of Waldoboro, on an outstanding arrest warrant. She was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

    Deputy Paul Pinkham arrested Byron Weatherbee, 37, of Owls Head, on an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

    Jan.19

    Deputy Matt Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Owls Head involving a single vehicle striking a deer. No damage sustained.

    Following a traffic stop in the town of Union, Elwell issued a summons for operating after suspension.

    Elwell conducted a radar detail in Union. One warning for speed was issued.

    Following a traffic stop in Thomaston, Deputy John Hansen issued a summons for improper use of seatbelt.

    Deputy Robert Potter responded to a report of an assault on Vinalhaven. No charges are being sought.

    Jan. 20

    Following a traffic stop in St. George, Hansen issued a summons for speed.

    Elwell conducted a radar detail in Washington. No violations were noted.

    Hansen responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in South Thomaston involving a single vehicle. Reportable damage sustained.

    Deputy Pat Polky began an investigation of harassment on North Haven. Due to the nature of this harassment, this case has been forwarded to the Knox Criminal Investigation Division.

    Jan. 21

    Elwell conducted a radar detail in Union. One warning for speed was issued.

    Elwell began an investigation of burglary in Appleton. There are no suspects or leads at this time.

    Potter responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on North Haven involving two vehicles. Non-reportable damage sustained.

    Elwell began an investigation of harassment in Union. The suspect will be issued a notice for same once located.

    Elwell conducted a radar detail in Washington. No violations were noted.

    Sgt. John Palmer began an investigation of trespassing in Warren. The suspect was located and issued a warning for same.

    Deputy Jeremy Joslyn arrested Jennifer Maskell, 36, of Nobleboro, on charges of violating conditions of release and possession of scheduled drugs. She was transported to the Knox County jail without incident.

    Jan. 22

    Elwell began an investigation of theft in Warren. There are no suspects or leads at this time.

    Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Owls Head involving a single vehicle. Reportable damage sustained.

    Spear responded to a report of an assault in Union. The suspect in this case was issued a summons for same.

    Elwell began an investigation of theft in South Thomaston. There are no suspects or leads at this time.

    Deputy Nathaniel Jack arrested Aaron Robinson, 34, of Vinalhaven on an outstanding arrest warrant. Subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

    Jan. 23

    Following a traffic stop in Warren, Palmer arrested Thomas Archer, 55, of Thomaston, on a charge of operating under the influence. Subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident, where he was also summonsed for possession of cocaine and speeding.

    Spear responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in the town of Cushing involving a single vehicle. Reportable damage sustained.

    Spear conducted a radar detail in Warren. No violations were noted.

    Spear arrested Matthew Obert, 31, of Warren, on two outstanding arrest warrants. Subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

    Pinkham arrested Henry Dudley, 33, of Tenants Harbor, on two outstanding arrest warrants. Subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

    Spear began an investigation of harassment in Warren. The suspect in this case was issued a warning for same.

    Jan. 24

    Following a traffic stop in Warren, Joslyn arrested Alice Waltz, 36, of Waldoboro, on a charge of operating under the influence. She was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

    Spear and Pinkham responded to assist Waldoboro Police officer Fuller at the scene of a domestic. This is a Waldoboro Police Department case with one arrest made.

    A Deputy responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving two vehicles. Non-reportable damage sustained.
