Knox County Sheriff’s beat: Aug. 30 to Sept. 14

    AUGUSTA — Knox County Sheriff's Office reported the following activity Aug. 30 to Sept. 14. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    Aug. 30

    Deputy Paul Pinkham responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Cushing involving a single vehicle leaving the roadway and striking a tree. There was reportable dam.

    Deputy Lance Mitchell conducted a radar detail in Warren. No violations were noted.

    Lt. Kirk Guerrette arrested Haley Watkinson, 27, of Owls Head, on an outstanding warrant. Watkinson was taken to Knox County Jail.

    Subsequent to a traffic stop in Tenants Harbor, Deputy Pinkham arrested Patrick Conway, 45, of Tenants Harbor, on a charge of operating after suspension. Conway was transported to Knox County Jail.

    Deputies Lance Mitchell and Paul Spear responded to a report of an erratic vehicle in Cushing. This is still an active investigation as the operator did cause dam due to operation and has yet to be located.

    Deputy Mitchell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Union involving two vehicles. There was non-reportable dam.

    Deputy Mitchell began an investigation into harassment in Friendship. The suspect was located and issued a warning.

    Sgt. John Palmer conducted a radar detail in Warren. No violations were noted.

    Deputy Matthew Elwell and Sgt. Palmer responded to a report of an erratic vehicle in Thomaston. The vehicle was located and Sgt. Palmer arrested the operator, Julie Simmons, 39, of Spruce Head, on a charge of operating under the influence. Simmons was transported to Knox County Jail.

    Aug. 31

    Deputy Robert Potter began an investigation into theft on Vinalhaven. The item was later located.

    Deputy Pinkham began an investigation into theft in St. George. The items was later located.

    Deputy Mitchell conducted a radar detail in Hope. No violations were noted.

    Deputy Mitchell conducted a radar detail in Union. No violations were noted.

    Deputy Arthur Smith responded to a report of threatening in St. George. Upon arrival and after speaking to the subjects involved, the complainant was issued a summons for assault.

    Deputy Mitchell and Sgt. James Moore responded to a report of a domestic in South Thomaston. Jaycob Paquin, 24, of South Thomaston, was arrested for domestic violence assault and transported to Knox County Jail.

    Deputy Smith arrested Dustin Stimpson, 29, of Tenants Harbor, on an outstanding warrant. Stimpson was transported to Knox County Jail.

    Sept. 1

    Deputy Smith conducted a radar detail in St. George. No violations were noted.

    Sgt. Palmer began an investigation of a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident in Warren. Suspect vehicle information was provided, but neither the vehicle nor its operator has been located. There was non-reportable dam.

    Deputies Jeremy Joslyn and Lance Mitchell responded to a trespassing complaint in Friendship. Upon arrival, the male suspect was leaving and issued a warning not to return.

    Deputies Mitchell and Joslyn responded to a report of an erratic vehicle in Union. Upon further investigation it was learned that this was a harassment issue and the female suspect was located and issued a warning.

    Sept. 2

    Subsequent to a traffic stop in Rockland, Deputy Smith issued a summons for operating without a license.

    Deputy Smith arrested Austin Stoddard, 31, of Augusta, on an outstanding warrant. Stoddard was transported to Knox County Jail.

    Deputy Potter responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Vinalhaven involving a single vehicle whose operator failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, striking a utility pole. There was reportable dam and the operator, Justin Philbrook, 35, of Vinalhaven, was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and operating under the influence.

    Deputy Smith and Sgt. James Moore responded to a report of a missing person in Union. The elderly male was later found hiding in the closet of a nearby vacant home and was returned to his residence.

    Deputy Elwell conducted a radar detail in Warren. No violations were noted.

    Deputies Elwell and Pinkham responded to a report of a domestic in Warren. Justin Ireland, 32, of Warren, was arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault and transported to Knox County Jail.

    Deputy Joslyn conducted a radar detail in Appleton. One vehicle was stopped for speed.

    Deputy Smith arrested Anthony Kaler, 40, of South Thomaston, on an outstanding warrant and transported to Knox County Jail.

    Deputy Smith responded to assist Rockport Police Officer Robbie Shaw at the scene of a domestic. The male involved was arrested by Officer Shaw. This is a Rockport case.

    Sept. 3

    Deputy Elwell conducted a radar detail in Appleton. No violations were noted.

    Deputy Elwell arrested Bruce Labombarde, 21, of Lincolnville, for violating a Protection From Abuse order. Elwell was transported to Knox County Jail.

    Sgt. Palmer responded to a report of a domestic in Friendship. Upon arrival, this was found to be a verbal argument only.

    Sept. 4

    Subsequent to a traffic stop in Rockport, Deputy Smith arrested Zachary Lieb, 25, of Rockport, on charges of operating under the influence and refusing to submit to arrest. Lieb was transported to Knox County jail.

    Deputy Elwell conducted a radar detail in Washington. One warning for an expired inspection was issued.

    Deputy Potter began an investigation of assault on Vinalhaven. The victim in this case was uncooperative, therefore no charges were sought.

    Deputy Elwell began an investigation of a Protection From Abuse order violation in Warren. The female suspect, Shelby Tolman, 25, of Warren, was issued a summons.

    Deputy Spear responded to a report of harassment in Cushing. After speaking to all parties involved, all were issued warnings.

    Subsequent to a traffic stop in South Thomaston, Deputy Spear issued a summons for attaching false plates and operating after suspension.

    Sept. 5

    Deputy Potter responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Vinalhaven involving a single vehicle leaving the roadway, striking a ditch and rolling on its side. There was reportable damage.

    Deputy Pinkham conducted a radar detail in Washington. No violations were noted.

    Deputy Pinkham arrested Andrew Williams, 22, of Warren, on an outstanding warrant. Warren was transported to Knox County Jail.

    Sgt. Moore arrested Nathan Hussey, 31, on an outstanding warrant. Hussey was taken to Knox County Jail.

    Sept. 6

    Deputies Joslyn and Mitchell began an investigation into theft in Cushing. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.

    Deputy Spear responded to an erratic vehicle complaint in St. George. The vehicle and operator were later located by Camden Police.

    Sgt. Moore began an investigation of harassment in Warren. This is still an active investigation as the suspect has yet to be located.

    Deputy Spear arrested Troy Crane, 22, of Port Clyde, on five outstanding warrants. Crane was transported to Knox County Jail.

    Sgt. Palmer conducted a radar detail in Warren. No violations were noted.

    Deputy Elwell began an investigation of theft in St. George. This is still an active investigation that has been turned over to Knox Criminal Investigations Division.

    Deputy Elwell and Sgt. Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving two vehicles. Deputy Elwell arrested Richard McDougall, 42, of Warren, on charges of operating under the influence, operating after suspension and leaving the scene of an accident. McDougall was transported to Knox County Jail.

    Sept. 8

    Deputies Pinkham and Elwell responded to a report of an assault in Warren. No charges were sought and one male involved was removed from the residence.

    Deputies Pinkham and Elwell responded to assist Rockport Police Sgt. Travis Ford at the scene of an assault. The male suspect, Bronson Simmons, 25, of Warren, was later located and arrested on a probation violation. Simmons was transported to Knox County Jail. This is a Rockport case.

    Deputy Potter began an investigation into burglary on Vinalhaven. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.

    Deputy Smith began an investigation into theft in Warren. This is still an active investigation with one suspect named who has yet to be located.

    Sept. 9

    Deputy Michael Sprague responded to a trespassing complaint in Warren. The female trespasser was issued a warning.

    Deputy Smith responded to assist Rockport Police at the scene of a disorderly male. The male was transported to PBMC for an evaluation.

    Deputies Sprague and Spear located two males in Thomaston that were suspects in a criminal theft case. One male was arrested on a probation hold, while the other was issued a summons for possession of marijuana.

    Sept. 10

    Detective Dwight Burtis arrested Andrew Jablonski, 38, of Matinicus, on an outstanding warrant. Jablonski was transported to Knox County Jail.

    Deputy Spear conducted a radar detail in Appleton. No violations were noted.

    Deputy Spear arrested Alex Hatch, 25, of Rockland, on an outstanding warrant. Hatch was taken to Knox County Jail.

    Sgt. Palmer responded to a shots-fired complaint in Warren. The male involved was issued a warning for disorderly conduct.

    Deputy Spear responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in South Thomaston involving a single vehicle striking a deer. There was non-reportable damage.

    Sept. 11

    Deputy Joslyn conducted a radar detail in Cushing. No violations were noted.

    Deputy Sprague began an investigation into a burglary in Warren. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.

    Deputy Joslyn began an investigation into theft in Warren. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.

    Subsequent to a traffic stop in Warren, Deputy Spear issued a summons for operating after suspension.

    Sgt. Moore began an investigation into harassment in St. George. All parties involved were issued warnings.

    Sgt. Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Hope involving a tree falling on a vehicle due to the storm. There was reportable damage.

    Sept. 12

    Deputy Potter responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Vinalhaven involving a single vehicle swerving to avoid a deer, and striking a ditch. There was reportable damage..

    Subsequent to a traffic stop in Cushing, Deputy Pinkham issued summonses for operating without a license and attaching false plates.

    Deputy Mitchell responded to a report of an erratic vehicle on North Haven. The vehicle and operator were located and a warning was issued.

    Sgt. Moore arrested Zachary Rogers, 32, of Rockland, on an outstanding warrant. Rogers was taken to Knox County jail.

    Deputy Spear responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Union involving a single vehicle striking a deer. There was reportable damage.

    Subsequent to a traffic stop in Hope, Deputy Spear issued a summons for operating after suspension.

    Subsequent to a probation/bail check in St. George, Deputy Joslyn arrested Eric Lugar, 37, of St. George, on a probation hold. Lugar was transported to Knox County Jail for a test and was also charged with operating under the influence.

    Sept. 13

    Deputy Spear conducted a radar detail in Appleton. No violations were noted.

    Deputy Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Hope involving two vehicles striking the same deer. There was reportable damage.

    Deputy Spear arrested Rebecca Jackson, 37, of Union, on an outstanding warrant. Subject was transported to Knox County Jail.

    Sgts. Palmer and Moore responded to assist Rockport Police at the scene of an under-age drinking party. This is a Rockport case.

    Sept. 14

    Deputy Pinkham and Detective Lt. Reginald Walker responded to a report of a domestic in Cushing. Subsequent to this response, Vance Bailey, 36, of Cushing, was arrested on charges of domestic violence assault and criminal mischief. Bailey was transported to Knox County Jail.

    Subsequent to a bail check in St. George, Deputy Paul Simonetti issued a summons for violating conditions of release.

    In total, during this two-week period, Knox County Sheriff's Office received 512 calls for service. Those calls that are not listed above are such calls as ATV problems, alarms, 911 hang-ups, along with nuisance, erratic vehicle and suspicious complaints.
