Kathy Lee Carmichael, obituary
Kathy Lee Carmichael went home to her Lord and Savior on July 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughters, Holly and Charity, after a short illness. Kathy was born on August 21, 1956, in South Hope, Maine, to Sheldon and Cora (Penney) Carmichael. She spent most of her childhood playing with her five siblings in the Unity area.
Kathy loved to bake and cook, always sharing her creations with family and friends. She was happiest when she was cooking for her family. You never had to worry about being hungry around Kathy. If you asked her to make a cheesecake for a party, she’d show up with six. That was just who she was—always going above and beyond to care for the people she loved. She was always thinking of others first, making sure everyone around her felt cared for, comforted, and full.
Kathy is survived by her beloved daughters, Holly Curtis-MacDonald and Charity Vines (Ryan); and the lights of her life – her grandchildren Zachary Collier (Kasey), Sam Dakin (Maddie), Brenna Vines, Hunter Vines, and Julia Vines. She was also blessed to meet her first great-grandchild, Brooks Henry Collier, who was born last year on her birthday. She was deeply proud to share that special day with him.
She is also survived by her siblings Sheldon Jr. “Tink” (Wanda) Carmichael, Terry Pushor, Melonie (Dickie) Kaufman, Bonnie Carmichael, and Wendy Carmichael; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
A very special place in her heart was held by her good friend and caregiver, Ana, who will miss her profoundly.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Sheldon and Cora Carmichael; her brother Darrell “Skip” Carmichael; and her sister-in-law Sherry Pushor.
Kathy’s legacy of love, faith, generosity, and selflessness will live on through the family she cherished so deeply.
Her daughters would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the Sussman House for the wonderful care and compassion they gave their mother.
In accordance with Kathy’s wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sussman House, where end-of-life care is provided with love, dignity, and compassion.
