John A. Delmonico, obituary

ROCKLAND — John A. Delmonico,  a.k.a “Handsome Italian” 88, passed away peacefully, May 1, 2018 at Knox Center in Rockland. 

Born in Chelsea, MA, November 4, 1929, he was the son of Augustus and Rosa Delmonico.  He served in the US Army from 1947-1951. After his service, he worked at Van Baalens in Rockland where he met and later married his soulmate, Annie Rose Benner of Camden.  The couple settled in Rockland where they raised their daughter Rosemary.  He later worked for FMC for many years.  John was an avid softball player for FMC and championship coach for WRKD.  Above all else, John loved and cherished his wife and family with a close second boasting his Italian heritage.

John was predeceased by his wife, Annie B. Delmonico. He is survived by his daughter, Rosemary Delmonico Read and her husband Walter Read of Thomaston, Four grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Christopher Morse and his wife Carin and their children Wilhelmina O’Brien and Miriam Morse of Nobleboro, Kelly Morse of Thomaston, Melissa Sawyer and her husband Chad and their children Brandon DeBrosky and Brady Gray of Waldoboro, Dan Morse and his wife Jody and their children, Danielle Morse and Stephanie Morse of Waldoboro.

Services will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 10 a.m.
