8th Grade Girls Basketball: Camden-Rockport 43, Medomak 42

Viewpoint of Medomak coach Andrea Williamson:
It was a great night for basketball. During the first quarter MMS scored 12 points to Camden's six points. Abby Lash and Bella LaFrance lead the way for MMS with four points each and Alexandra Southworth had all six points for Camden.

During the second quarter MMS was only able to score four points to Camden’s eight points. Both teams headed into the locker room excited, MMS with a two point lead over Camden.

The third quarter started with some heat. MMS scored six points and Camden scored 10. Camden took the lead for the first time in the game.

During the fourth quarter it was back and forth and back and forth action. With about 40 seconds left in the game, MMS was down three points. The clock was ticking down and at the buzzer Abby Lash shot, and scored tying the game 34 a piece.

This headed the game into overtime.

During overtime it was again back to back action. End to end defense, fouls were made and lots of girls were on the line for both teams. MMS had eight and made six. Camden had five and made one. MMS was down by two with 0.1 seconds; one of two free throws were made, MMS still trailed Camden by one, and MMS was unable to find the hoop again, so Camden beat MMS 43 to 42.

Great defense was played by Steph Morse, Abby Lash and Gabby Baughman.

Viewpoint of Camden-Rockport coach Cheryl Beveridge:
CRMS traveled to MMS for a playoff game tonight. It was a barn-burner.

It seemed like our girls had a little deer in the head lights look in the beginning but was able to settle down and keep their cool and pull off a victory with hard work and perseverance.

Abby Lash scored a tying three pointer with one second left to put it into overtime.

We always have a great game with Medomak. We now travel to undefeated Boothbay on Wednesday or Thursday.
