KNOX COUNTY — Health Affiliates Maine, a statewide substance abuse and mental health agency, announces the recent hiring of Dominique Gordon, MHRT/C. Dominique will be working in the Knox County area as a mental health case manager for adults and children and is currently taking referrals.

Case Managers help connect people to useful services, programs and assistance including housing, basic needs, medical care, counseling, educational support, employment & skills training, community support/resources, and financial and legal assistance.

Dominique's journey in the helping profession began in the 80's when she started working with people affected by head injuries in residential settings; she quickly fell in love with supporting others. After experiencing the rewards of helping others in need she went on to work with adults and children with intellectual disabilities. Dominique has now started a new venture bringing her strength based approach to Health Affiliates Maine as a Case Manager for Children and Adults.

Dominique believes in the Asian philosophy of the Red Silk Thread. It is the idea that we are all created equal, we all have our own unique set of challenges and skills, and we are all interconnected to serve each other for a greater purpose. She brings this into her work while supporting others in reaching their potential and getting needs met. Dominique states "I am always humbled and I feel blessed that my job is walking beside people with incredible resilience and grit. More times than not my clients provide me with a better understanding of how to feel the sunshine in my own life. I hope that exchange of our skills is beneficial to them as well."
