Harlan G. Pease Sr., obituary

AUGUSTA — Harlan George Pease Sr. passed away Jan. 16, 2016. He was born June 12, 1921, in Appleton to George and Vera (Pierson) Pease.

Harlan grew up in Burkettville and attended local schools. He worked on farms and in the logging industry as a young man. He married Frances Willey in 1941 in Rockland, and the couple had five children.

Harlan joined the Navy in 1943 and served our country during World War II. After his service, he returned to Maine to continue working in the logging industry and was a truck driver for Dead River for many years. He retired in 1986. He loved hunting, gardening and spending time with his family, friends and dogs.

Harlan was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Frances; his son, Peter; four brothers; and five sisters.

He is survived by his son, Harlan Pease Jr. and his wife, Lorna, of Rockport; his daughters, Joan Beaster and her husband, David, of Florida, Emily Carlson and her husband, Glenn, of China, Maine, and Kathy Belisle and her husband, Richard, of Winslow; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; his dear friend, Helen Jones; his dog, Cutie; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service for Harlan will be held Friday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 78 Main St. in Thomaston, with the Rev. Anne Roundy officiating.
