ROCKPORT — Knox-Lincoln Soil& Water Conservation District is holding a Great Garden Raffle from now through November 5, to support its education programs.

First prize is a Valley Oaks Broad Fork donated by Fedco Seeds ($215 value). Second prize is a Tub-Trug kit donated by Johnny's Selected Seeds ($100 value); and third prize is a $25 certificate to the Knox-Lincoln Conservation Spring Plant Sale on May 2 and 3, 2015.

Broad forks are the latest rage in gardening. With a broad fork, a gardener can loosen and aerate garden soil without mixing up the layers, confusing soil biota, and destroying soil structure. The Valley Oaks broad fork is 18" wide with five 12" steel tines that break up compacted soil more deeply than a rototiller, and two replaceable 48" hardwood post-hole digger handles.
