CUSHING — Glenna H. Meservey, 64, died Aug. 18, 2015, surrounded by her family, at Maine Medical Center in Portland from complications of a long battle with diabetes.

Born in Camden on Aug. 24, 1950, she was the daughter of Ernest E. and Ruth Hammond Harrington. She lived in Rockland until the age of 13, when she moved with her family to Cushing.

Glenna was a member of the first class to graduate from the newly constructed Georges Valley High School in 1968.

For the next few years, she devoted her life to her family and raising her children. She worked at various jobs to help support her family until beginning full time employment with GTE Sylvania in Waldoboro. She later worked at the Urban Development and Grants office in Rockland; First National Bank in Rockland; Maritime Energy; and for 12 years as a secretary at the Maine State Prison in Thomaston. She retired, due to illness, from her job with the Maine State Prison System, while working at the Bolduc Unit in Warren.

In October of 1997, Glenna married Raymond C. Meservey Sr. at Broad Cove Church in Cushing.

An accomplished crafter, she loved knitting, crocheting and sewing, often making mittens and hats for her grandchildren. Those grandchildren, as well as her nieces and nephews, affectionately referred to her either as “Nanie” or “The Hat Lady.” She also loved all animals, kept many pets and enjoyed bird watching.

She was a member of Assembly of God Church in Thomaston.

In addition to her husband, Glenna is survived by Guy E. Barter and his companion, Mandy Staples, all of Cushing, two stepsons, Raymond W. Meservey Jr. and Jason Meservey and his wife, Tiny, all of Warren; her daughter, Wendy Pizzillo and her husband, George, of Owls Head; one stepdaughter, Debbie Joshlyn and her husband, Steve, of Thomaston; two brothers, Ernest C. Harrington and his wife, Kathy, of Cushing, and Robert Harrington and his wife, Karen, of South Berwick; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Holly, Michael, A.J., Hunter, Christian and Dominik; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lincoln County Animal Shelter, 27 Atlantic Highway, Edgecomb, ME 04556.
