ROCKLAND – Gladys M. Fullerton, 88, died April 17, 2016, at Knox Center for Long Term Care, after an extended illness.

Born in Friendship on Nov. 20, 1927, she was the daughter of Almon L. and Florence B. Carter Burns. She attended Friendship schools and was a 1946 graduate of Thomaston High School.

She was first employed as a waitress at the Lobster Pot in Friendship. She later worked a brief time at GTE Sylvania in Waldoboro, and spent the rest of her career as a waitress at area restaurants.

On Oct. 6, 1979, she married Charles Fullerton in Rockland. They enjoyed traveling together and for more than 17 years, wintered in Zephyr Hills, Fla.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, No. 3095, in Friendship and the Rockland Lodge of Elks Emblem Club.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was predeceased by an infant son; her first husband, Charles Stenger in 1978; her second husband, Charles Fullerton in 2006; and her siblings, Virgil Burns, Louise Havener and Madeline Somes.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Robinson and her husband, Ernest, of Thomaston; three grandchildren, Chip Robinson, Kandice Miller and her husband, Jeremey, and Viktoria Robinson and her fiancée, Chris Cushman; 10 great-grandchildren, Karly Robinson, Kiara Robinson, (twins) Colton and Cade Robinson, Brayden Hyatt, Kylee Cocks, Bryce, Tyler and Brooke Miller, and Lily Carter; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit Thursday, April 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. Private interment will be in Achorn Cemetery in Rockland.
