Frederick ‘Ted’ Henry, obituary

THOMASTON — Frederick J. “Ted” Henry, 84, died Aug. 24, 2014, after a period of declining health. He was born April 22, 1930, in Thomaston, to Mary Linekin and Arthur J Henry. He attended Thomaston schools and graduated from Thomaston High School in 1948.

He lived at the family homestead on Beechwood Street all of his life. He worked for the Town of Thomaston as cemetery sexton, public works director and for the pollution control department from 1952 until his retirement in 1994.

At one time, along with Dana Sawyer, he operated the bowling alley at the Masonic Temple in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He enjoyed spending time at "the island" in St. George. He also enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed the company of the cats he adopted from the shelter, Ike, and most recently, Luke.

In addition to his his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Janet Henry, Blanche Henry, June Clancy, Elizabeth Stevens and Iva Bennett; and two nieces, Diane Henry-Elwell and Carla Henry. He is survived by his two brothers, Walter Henry and his wife, Betty, of Warren, and Arthur D. Henry of Thomaston; his nephews, John Stevens of Thorne Bay Alaska, Arthur E. Henry of Warren and Dwight Henry of Thomaston; his nieces, Patricia Monroe of Warren, Beth Edwards of Sanger, Calif., Susan Henry of Thomaston and Allison Libby of Cushing. He also leaves behind several great-nieces and great-nephews.
