Franklin ‘Bill’ Creighton, obituary

ROCKLAND — Franklin W. "Bill" Creighton, 91, died Sept. 23, 2015, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough. He was born in Rockland to George and June Andrews Creighton. Bill grew up in Milton, Mass., and attended Massachusetts schools. He graduated from Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

Bill served in the Coast Guard during World War II and in the U.S. Navy until he was honorably discharged in 1953. He started working as a marine engineer for Bath Iron Works and later with Marine Colloids in Rockland. He taught at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine for more than 20 years.

Bill was a member of American Legion Post 37 in Thomaston and the Rockland Lions Club. Bill enjoyed traveling and sailing all over the world.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne Turner Creighton; and his brothers, Everett and James Creighton.

He is survived by his daughters, June Moraros of Gorham, and Carol Worster of Winterport; his son, Eric Creighton of Bangor; his grandchild, Corey Worster of Kansas; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. at Village Cemetery in Thomaston. The Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate.
